Talitha Kum

A Spiritual Camp Proposal for Rovers

 

Drave – Rover Scout Centre, Portugal

 

Dear International and Rover Commissioners,

 

CNE is glad to invite rovers of your association to the 1st International Talitha Kum, which will take place in the 

 

gorgeous setting of Drave, the Portuguese Rover Scout Centre, in Portugal, between July 10th and 12nd, 2015.

 

Talitha Kum is a spiritual camp proposed to Rovers of all EuroMed region of ICCS.

 

When Jesus finds the unnamed daughter of Jairus deceased, He takes her by the hand and says, “Talitha

 

kum” (Marcus 5:41). Marcus immediately explains that this means “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”

 

It is in this simple but meaningful episode, that inspiration was found for the Talitha kum activity being held every 

 

year in the small uninhabited yet not abandoned village of Drave, in Portugal. When taking Jesus’s call as a 

 

passionate appeal to rise up and walk on the face of the Earth enjoying the miracle of life granted by God, it is, in 

 

fact, difficult to remain indifferent to world surrounding us.

 

In 2015, Talitha Kum will be based on one of those human giants touched by His message of rising and walking in this 

 

world fully embracing Him: Mother Theresa of Calcutta.
