News from World Youth Day 2023: a sea of opportunities
World Youth day (WYD) is a huge gathering of catholic and non-catholic young people that takes place every year in each dioceses. Since the 80s it was celebrated in Palm Sunday and now is celebrated at the end of the liturgical year, during the Christ the King Feast.
In Panama, January 2019, it was officially announced that the next international WYD edition will be in Portugal in 2023. Since then, a growing number of volunteers are working to prepare a joyful celebration on the theme «Mary rose up and went with haste (Lc1,39)»
The ICCS-EM Committee is working closely with the Local Organizing Committee and with CNE (Corpo Nacional de Escutas – Escutismo Católico Português) to ensure the scout spirit offers the most both to the program and to the staff. We are also working to motivate young scouts and leaders, from 16 years-old onwards, to register as pilgrims.
