Easter in the year of Mercy
Pope Francis called on all people for a year of Mercy. For the pope merci is the central idea of the Gospel.
The heraldic device of our pope is “Miserando atque eligendo” (Beda Venerabilis, 7nd century) and based on the gospel of Matthew.
“Misericordia”, “cor” is heart and miseria is problems. It means having a heart for people in trouble. The pope ask us to open our hearts for those who live in desperate areas
and to show them the borderless love of the risen Jesus.
Easter Jesus is risen from the dead. The gospel Saint Marc (Mk. 16:1-8)
“When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices with which to go and anoint him.
And very early in the morning on the first day of the week they went to the tomb when the sun had risen.
They had been saying to one other, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the
entrance to the tomb?’
But when they looked they saw that the stone -wich was very big- had already been rolled back.
On entering the tomb he saw a young man in a white robe seated on the right-hand side, and they were struck with amazement.
But he said to them, ‘There is no need to be so amazed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he has risen, he is not here. See, here is the place where they laid him.
But you must go and tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you to Galilee; that is where you will see him, just as he told you.” ‘
Easter, the Lord God blows his Spirit through our valley of dead. The scriptures are fulfilled and the dead is conquered. Jesus is risen, alleluia!
Resurrection is a way to go. It is going the way of Jesus. It is showing his love to human nature People rise from the dead each time that they can stand up from their destiny.
Risen from the dead, it means not tolerate that people are sweated. It means open our hearts for the destiny of the poorest on earth and make their lives and our world better!!
